Skills for Rhode Island’s Future is recruiting candidates for the Rhode Island Makers Training Program (Welding), a free welding training program to help interested job seekers re-enter the workforce with new skills and abilities.
The Rhode Island Makers Training Program is currently seeking candidates for a free, 5-week long welding training program that will take place at the state-of-the-art training facility of the UA Local 51 in East Providence, RI. This is a 100+ hour welding training where candidates will learn the necessary skills required to establish entry-level careers in the field of welding and/or other hands-on, advanced manufacturing roles where welding skills are needed. The skills covered include but are not limited to - the use and care of tools, OSHA-10, safety in the workplace, basic welding theory, equipment training, basic math, and practical application. Candidates will also participate in a 40-hour work readiness program to fully prepare them for employment opportunities post-graduation. Class size is limited and candidates will need to apply and interview for consideration. Please see below for additional information.

Start Date: October 30th
Time: Mon-Fri. 8-4pm for 5 weeks
Where: Riverside, RI (in-person, hands-on training)
Requirements:
- Rhode Island Resident
- Unemployed or Underemployed (if unsure, we'll let you know!)
- Must be 18yrs. and older
- High school diploma/GED
- Basic math skills required
- Must be able to lift 50lbs. or more
- Access to reliable transportation to and from class
- Background check & drug test required
- Able to communicate effectively
- Willing to comply with safety procedures
- Excellent work ethic
- Authorized to work in the US.
- No previous welding experience is necessary
