Skills for Rhode Island’ s Future (Skills RI) is a nonprofit organization that identifies companies’ immediate hiring needs and connects them with qualified, unemployed or under employed job seekers as well as working to fill the skills gap through training and work-based learning opportunities.  

Position

The Recruiter position is an entry level role responsible for assisting the recruiting team by sourcing qualified talent across multiple industries for Skills RI business partners throughout Rhode Island. The role identifies qualified applicants coming into an applicant database and refers top candidates to Skills RI recruiters for their open positions. The person in this role serves as a " gatekeeper"  for the Talent Acquisition team and plays a critical role in helping underemployed and unemployed RI residents to obtain gainful employment.

Responsibilities

The Recruiter will:
  • Review and screen all incoming candidates 
  • Manage candidate relationships with frequent communication throughout the process with real-time documentation of candidate status
  • Facilitate communication with other team members on workflow, candidate status, and other relevant information
  • Comply with defined processes and standards
  • Help meet or exceed team goals for candidates submitted, hired, and retained
  • Complete or assist with other staffing projects as assigned to enhance company services and processes
  • Attend hiring events as assigned

Candidate Profile

Qualified candidates will demonstrate the following experience, skills, and personal attributes:
  • Passion for the mission of Skills RI and enthusiasm for its success
  • Comfort with - and enthusiasm for - working in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience preferred
  • Sales and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability  to organize and prioritize work and to accomplish goals under tight time constraints
  • Ability to communicate professionally across a broad range of constituent groups
  • Strong interpersonal skills including relationship building, customer service, empathy and resilience
  • Ambitious, pro-active and detail-oriented
  • Willingness to work-hard, maintain a positive attitude, and overcome challenges
  • Solution oriented problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize according to business goals
  • Conviction, integrity, honesty and maturity in all situations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other current cloud-based technologies  as an end user
  • Experience with a database tool;  Bullhorn experience preferred
