JOB TITLE: Phlebotomist
LOCATION: Warwick, RI 
HOURS: Full Time, Part Time & Per Diem

Key Responsibilities:

• Obtain blood samples by performing venipunctures, finger sticks, and heel sticks on any age level.  Use aseptic techniques and follow established procedures.
• Enter all patient information into the correct hospital system, verify patient demographics, update and verify all patient insurance, and administer ABN’s as needed. 
• Organize and distribute workload in phlebotomy, including routine, time-specific, or stat orders, to ensure timely results to the provider
• Order tests in the computer and if needed contact the physician on questions relating to test requests.
• File/Scan scripts and insurance information, and prepare reports for delivery to Doctor’s office if needed. 
• Prepare samples for courier pickup and/or deliver samples, to the appropriate department to ensure specimen integrity.
• Maintain a proper inventory of supplies needed in order to provide continuous service, minimizing downtime.
• Clean and maintain phlebotomy work areas, carts, etc. utilizing established procedures.
• Assist with the training of new employees.
• Perform phlebotomy responsibilities at assigned location(s) determined by the manager to meet the needs of the department
• Perform all other related duties as assigned

• A high school diploma and a minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent is required. All employees hired during or after 2012 must have Phlebotomy certification.
