The Hub provides access to several critical areas such as technical assistance, leadership development, professional services, and support to new and developing small businesses.

Position Summary
The Legal Services Manager will assist Small Business HUB clients by offering legal services across the state of Rhode Island as part of the agency’s RI Small Business HUB. The Legal Services Manager will report directly to the Small Business HUB Director. 

Responsibilities
  • Meet with Small Business HUB clients across the state of Rhode Island to determine their respective legal needs.
  • Provide legal guidance on Rhode Island labor laws as it relates to small business operations and staffing.
  • Provide technical assistance to Small Business HUB clients in the process of bidding on government and private contracts, and bonding.
  • Conduct initial and periodic compliance assessments of Small Business HUB clients to ensure adherence to local and national laws and regulations.
  • Research and analyze current statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources relevant to protect the interests of Small Business HUB clients.
  • Specify internal governance policies for Small Business HUB clients.
  • Coordinate the collection, review, and production of legal documents for Small Business HUB clients.
  • Review the legality of Small Business HUB clients’ transactions, contracts, and agreements.
  • Manage and advise on legal budget for Small Business HUB clients.
  • Clarify legal language for Small Business HUB clients.
  • Assist Small Business HUB clients in calculating legal risk.
  • Establish and maintain licensing step-by-step guides for incubating small businesses in key industries.

Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience in a legal assistant or similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Paralegal certification required
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience.
