LOCATION: Bryant University Smithfield RI
HOURS: 2nd Shift

AVI Foodsystems is looking for an energetic and optimistic team member to fill the role of General Kitchen Staff, Full-time at the Fischer - Tuppers Building, Bryant University in Providence, RI. This position includes some evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete all tasks, in order, on the prep list from the Head Chef or other kitchen manager
• Prepare delicious food, following AVI recipes, ensuring quality by tasting all preparations
• Practice excellent customer service by engaging guests, maintaining a friendly and approachable demeanor, and being knowledgeable of the station
• Ensure all products are labeled properly for storage, maintain proper storage order to eliminate the possibility of cross-contamination/cross-contact and follow FIFO practices.
• Washing, chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables and meats
• Work with kitchen equipment such as slicers, grills, ovens, etc
• Maintain accurate and complete temperature logs, such as freezers, coolers, cooked food and post-productions logs, etc.
• Properly wear a cut glove when using a slicer, knife or any additional sharp utensil
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to and including 50 pounds occasionally
• Maintain a cleaning list and keep workspaces, tools and equipment clean and sanitized
• Adhere to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards
• Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to order resupply
• Must be able to work in an environment that includes heat, cold and loud noises
• Must be able to use chemicals that are required for daily cleaning
• Any additional job duties as determined by management

• Must have knowledge of the primary 9 allergens and follow procedures to prevent cross-contact
• Effective communication, both written and verbal
• Extreme attention to detail and quality
• Must possess a strong sense of taste and smell
• Ability to follow verbal directions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and the ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure
• Basic knowledge of food safety, cook times and food danger temperature zones and sanitation regulations
• Superior dexterity skills to operate cutting tools quickly and safely
• Great collaboration and teamwork skills
