JOB TITLE:  Teaching Assistant

HOURS:   Full-Time

Job Overview

*Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week. Monday through Friday 8: 00am to 4: 00pm 


Support teaching staff in academic, recreation, crisis intervention and social skill building instruction in The Providence Center School.

ESSENTIAL DUTDS AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Demonstrate professionalism in communication and collaboration with members of the school and community, including all students, colleagues, families and related agencies.

Support teachers by participating in instructional opportunities.

Exhibit knowledge of health, safety, and emergency procedures of the learning environment.

Demonstrate appropriate Response to Behavioral Crisis.

Transport consumers in own vehicle or Center van to planned activities and appointments.

Complete recordkeeping in accordance with Health Information Services (HIS) and other Center requirements and abide by Center confidentiality policy.

Maintain cooperative relationships with other employees, consumers and the public.

Attend trainings and conferences.

Bachelor' s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training, Teaching Assistant Certification preferred. Certificate and experience in lieu of degree acceptable.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 


Teaching Assistant Certification. Must also have insured auto and valid driver' s license.
