Skills for Rhode Island’ s Future is recruiting candidates for Electric Boat, a Quonset based manufacturer who designs and builds the nuclear submarines used by our US Navy. JOB TITLE: Shipfitter
LOCATION(S): North Kingstown, RI
HOURS: Full Time
Electric Boat is seeking shipfitters who are required to interpret construction drawings with basic math ability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components and deck packages
- Reading and interpreting written policies, procedures and guidelines as work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures
- Alignment of parts in relation to each other using jacks, clips and wedges through use of blueprints and templates
Successful candidates will have:
Previous Shipfitting/metal fabrication or carpentry experience is preferred
Previous experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment is desired
Previous metal fabrication experience and military shipbuilding experience is preferred
High school diploma/GED
