JOB TITLE: Facilities Maintenance Technician
LOCATION: North Kingstown, RI
HOURS: 2nd Shift
The Facilities Maintenance Technician role at OSJL is a hands-on, multi-skilled role that keeps OSJL's facilities and services running smoothly. The role tackles a diverse range of tasks, including, but not limited to, general maintenance and cleaning, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and repairs on everything from vending machines to floor tiles. The Facilities Maintenance Technician role works as prioritized and directed by the Facilities Manager according to maintenance schedules and Company needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and repairs to Company properties, equipment and systems, including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and masonry.
- Maintain and clean Johnson Air units (HVAC).
- Ensure functionality of dock doors, overhead doors, and dock plates.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment following OSHA and Company safety standards.
- Clean the warehouse, including, but not limited to, emptying trash and operating floor machines.
- Build, move, and install furniture.
- Safely operate material handling equipment, including, but not limited to forklifts, pallet jack and scissor lifts after completing Company training including passing al safety and equipment and operations training.
- Build, install, and repair warehouse racking systems.
- Perform minor repairs on vending machines.
- Assist with seasonal grounds maintenance, including, but not limited to snow removal and ice melt application.
- Replace worn, damaged or defective parts on work equipment and machinery.
- Periodic travel between Company properties.
Successful candidates will have:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- 3 or more years of previous experience is required. Experience in an industrial warehouse
- environment or distribution center is preferred.
- Successful prior track record as a carpenter/craftsman is required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Ability to meet area productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping and attendance standards.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Familiarity with Johnson Air Handler units is preferred.
- Experience with dock levelers/overhead doors preferred.
- Experience operating MHE forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts are preferred.
- Work primarily in a distribution center environment. Physically active role involving positioning oneself, moving, transporting, and ascending and descending ladders and scaffolding. Must be able to remain stationary and/or continually move for up to 10 - 12 hours per day.
- Responsible for physical activities including using equipment, positioning self to properly
- Complete tasks, ascend and descend to heights of 20 feet or more. Should be able to lift and move
- 50 lbs. of material on a regular basis.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to outside weather conditions and/or moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, or electrical components.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some work in a climate-controlled environment. Some sedentary, and near vision use for reading and computer use.
